| The Bahamas Held Press Conference for China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum |

On November 21, the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahamas and the Chinese Embassy in Bahamas jointly held a Press Conference for the China-Caribbean Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum. Mr. Leslie Miller, Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr. Phillip Miller, Deuputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahamas, Mr. Ni Boheng, Charge D’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Bahamas were present at the Press Conference. Attending the Conference were journalists representing Bahamian major media—Nassau Guardian, national TV station ZNS, and Cable Bahamas, leaders of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Financial Services and Investment of Bahamas, as well as well-known figures from the Bahamian business community. Minister Miller, Mr. Wilson who represents the Bahamian businesses, and Charge D’affaires Ni Boheng delivered speeches at the Press Conference.
Minister Miller spoke high of the great importance paid by the Chinese government to developing China-Bahamas economic and trade ties. Mr. Miller said the Forum would promote the economic and technological cooperation between China and the Caribbean countries and be conducive to the sustained and stable economic development of Bahamas and the Caribbean region at large. He promised to lead a delegation to the Forum to discuss with their Chinese counterparts on the cooperation in the manufacturing of art crafts for tourists, technical training, etc.
Mr. Wilson, the business representative, said that China kept a significant position in world economy. As an economic power, China had great influence and attractiveness. He called upon all Bahamian business people to update their concepts to be actively engaged in direct trade with China by means of joint purchase, online ordering, etc.
