Introduction to the Host City

Covering the total area of 1,565 square kilometers, Xiamen, situated on the southeast coast of China with the resident population of 2.225m, is a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese and an ancestral home of Taiwanese compatriots. As a traditional ports opening for international trades and one of the first four Special Economic Zones set up in China, it becomes one of the most important ports for foreign trade in China.
As a harbor view tourist resort, Xiamen is very fit for family tour, with annual temperature of 22℃, neither intense heat in summer nor severely cold in winter. It owns numerous honors such as United Nations Human Settlement Award, International Nations in Bloom Award, National Garden City, National Sanitary City, National Model City for Environment Protection, City of Civility and China Excellent Tourist City.
Xiamen is one of the Top 10 ports in China and has opened 51 international shipping lines. At the same time, it is one of major air hubs in the East China and has opened 91 domestic and international air routes including flights to Singapore, Malaysia, Philippine, Thailand, South Korea and Japan, being linked to 71 locations round the world. In addition, there are various modern communication facilities in Xiamen; therefore, it is very convenient for foreign communication. It is also one of the most famous conference and exhibition cities in China with more than 100 star-level hotels, providing favorable conditions for holding all kinds of international conferences and exhibition activities.
