I.Bilateral Political Relations

China and Grenada established diplomatic relations on October 1,1985. On July 19,1989, the Grenadian government announced to "establish diplomatic ties" with Taiwan. On August 7, 1989, China severed its diplomatic relations with Grenada. On January 20, 2005, China and Grenada resumed their diplomatic ties.

Important Mutual Visits

On December 12-16, 2004, Grenadian Prime Minister Keith Mitchell accompanied by the Foreign Minister Elvin Nimrod visited China.

On January 20-24, 2005, Grenadian Foreign Minister Elvin Nimrod visited China. He met with State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan, Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and Vice Foreign Minister Zhou Wenzhong respectively. The two sides signed the Joint Communiqué on the Resumption of Diplomatic relations and the Memorandum of Understanding and decided to resume their diplomatic ties on January 20, 2005.

II. Important Bilateral Agreements and Documents

On January 20, 2005, on behalf of their respective government, Chinese Foreign Minster Li Zhaoxing and Grenadian Foreign Minister Elvin Nimrod signed the Joint Communiqué on the Resumption of Diplomatic Relations between the People's Republic of China and Grenada. China and Grenada established diplomatic relations on October 1, 1985. On July 19, 1989, the Grenadian government announced to "establish diplomatic ties" with Taiwan.
